A Company in Los Angeles has announced that they are to make allergy free cats by genetically modifying them. They are already taking $250 deposits for a kitten. The small print says that the deposit is non-refundable even if a kitten is never provided. They hope to be producing 200,000 kittens by 2007. Each kitten will be $3500. That's $700,000,000 a year.
They will be eliminating, by RNA interference, the FEL D 1 protein that is secreted into the fur which causes the allergy. This has never been done before. Even if it works this may not stop you being allergy free around this type of cat since they produce many other allergens and you may be allergic to one of these.
Once again I say What is the point of this type of work when there are many more important things to do in life.
I intend to put nothing serious on this. Just stuff I think of. If it has offended you then stop reading.

40% of bottled water dangerous
Reports just in that of 68 commercial bottled waters from 16 countries tested 40% had bacterial contamination. Thanks to Dutch scientists for this information.
They say that normal people will be OK (but when have we heard this before) but people with impared immune systems should drink tap water.
I say we should all drink tap water. I have been all over the UK and have only a couple of times found the tap water undrinkable. In a couple of cases this was a temporary problem. Anyone who buys bottle water in the UK is just wasting money.

Pet Transplants
How can anyone in the world justify pet transplants when around the world people are starving to death. You pet is not that important. Let it die like all pets do.
If you have to do it then I think you should give the same amount it costs to have the transplant to one of the proper charities around the world to help people in the less well off world.
And finally some questions that I do not have answers to:

And finally some questions that I do not have answers to:
- Where to the organs that are used for these transplants come from ?
- Does someone breed cats and dogs, etc just to provide the organs ?
- Are there animal organ harvesters who kidnap other people's pets to provide the organs ?
- Humans reject organs because of incompatibilities and all have to take suppresant drugs so do pets have to take similar drugs ?
- Which drug company worked on these drugs if they exist ?
